I am a Veterinary Medicine student at the Royal Veterinary College. I achieved a 42/45 in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, particularly excelling in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Environmental Sciences.
I have had experience mentoring and coaching younger trumpet players and rowers, the skills of which easily translates to those for mentoring younger children. My patience, attention to detail and clear communication are necessary skills to foster a welcoming and empathetic environment, allowing my tutees to feel safe asking questions and learning from their mistakes. In a positive and encouraging environment, knowledge can spark a students curiosity, rather than causing them to dislike a certain subject due to a lack of understanding or finding a certain concept challenging and are unable to solve it.
Different people learn in different ways, so I will tailor lessons to better suit each individual's needs. I will break down complex and challenging concepts into simple and logical ideas and connecting them to the real world, allowing for a greater understanding rather than just memorising facts. I will teach using tools such as diagrams, models, videos etc. to create a more memorable and positive learning experience.
I will help students with their homework, exam revision and to extend classroom learning. I can also provide study skills, revision techniques and exam strategies that I have learnt through the challenges and successes in my academic journey. Students can learn problem solving, critical thinking, communication, resilience and many more which provides a strong basis for future success in academics and in the real world.
