As I go into the first year of my PhD, I want to build my skills as an educator and tutor particularly teaching in my field of research. I already have 1+ years of experience in tutoring, mostly from my time in South Korea spent teaching English as a foreign language. But I would like to built on that foundation teaching the subjects I am personally much more passionate about. My undergraduate degree was in law but I switched to the social sciences for my postgraduate education. First I completed a Masters of Science in Social Anthropology. Coming into social anthropology from a legal background meant I had to quickly adapt to the social sciences, their diction, their way of argumentation and essay writing. Not only did I manage to learn these skills quickly, but I also managed to graduate with a distinction as well as the award for the best overall performance among my cohort. Therefore, I believe that I know what people coming into or struggling with the social sciences feel as well as how to bridge educational and practical gaps in their knowledge. Now commencing my doctoral research journey, I would love to spent some of my time discussing and helping out students that are engaging with the social sciences at various stages of their education. I am eager to raise not only your grades but also your enthusiasm for and interest in the complex web of power relations, social actors, and ideas that populate our everyday lives. Let's have a chat and plan your lessons together!
