I am a Level 5 qualified TEFL teacher with extensive experience in teaching English language
skills across higher education, further education, and to adults in business contexts.
I am a former university course leader in journalism with extensive experience in overseeing curriculum development and student engagement. I am proficient in lesson planning,
delivering effective instruction, assessing coursework, and providing support to students
with diverse needs. I like to work out a plan and approach with my students that is built around their needs and aspirations. I am patient and empathetic and having worked as a lecturer in university I have clear insight into the pressures and challenges facing students and can work with you to help build your confidence and knowledge. As well as working with HE and FE students, I like to work with adults who need help with practical business English and use role play scenarios in both writing and teaching to strengthen your skills and confidence. I use multi media techniques in my teaching delivery and am keen to encourage my students to bring their own areas of interest to develop into teaching activities. My aim is to identify the practical uses of the learning for the student through discussion and then devise a personal approach that is both enjoyable and challenging. I offer English as a Foreign language tuition and also support for A Level media courses, support for university studies in Journalism and media subjects, dissertation planning and improving, as well as business English for adults.
