My lessons are conversations: structured, purposeful, and shaped around you.
I'm a researcher, author, and educator with masters degree and a doctorate, with more than twenty years of experience helping people find their voice, sharpen their thinking, and communicate with clarity and confidence. I have written twenty-two books, as well as academic papers, and a blog with over 4,000 entries. I've also taught on postgraduate programmes at the University of Pennsylvania, and worked with learners across fifty countries. But what matters most in a lesson is simpler: I'm a patient, curious listener who genuinely enjoys the process of helping someone grow.
For English lessons, I work across a wide range: academic writing, essay structure, professional communication, creative writing, reading comprehension, and conversation. I'm equally comfortable supporting a student preparing for an exam, a professional writing in English as a second language, or someone who simply wants to read and speak with more confidence and fluency.
Each lesson starts with where you are and what you need. I don't deliver a fixed curriculum: I listen first, then we work together. Sessions typically combine focused skill-building with open dialogue: we might work through a piece of your own writing, explore a text together, practice spoken expression, or tackle a specific challenge you're facing. I use questions to draw out your thinking rather than simply giving you answers.
I believe every writer already has more capability than they realise. My job is to help you access it.
Sessions are flexible, and tailored entirely to you.
