On the first lesson, I’ll ask my student to give me a list of topics, questions, or anything they would like to go over so that I can tailor the sessions to them. At the beginning of each lesson, I will ask if they need help with any class or homework and work through it together, including recapping chapters or poems, answering knowledge questions, reading and analysing texts, and writing and structuring essays.
Usually, my lessons follow the structure of:
recapping most recent class work, reading and analysing text, answering short questions about it and finally answering exam essay questions with my guidance. I discuss the most suitable methods of revising for students, suggesting things such as using flashcards or mind maps to help them revise for English Lit in their own time as well.

I have enjoyed English Literature since I started the subject, and received a grade 8 for my GCSE. I also published a poem anthology through the First Story program, and I’ve always participated in English lessons, my teachers praising me for my work and engagement. I’ve had experience in teaching primary school pupils as well as secondary school students, and I’ve always received amazing feedback from both my students as well as their parents.
