I'm a 25 year old native English tutor and freelance writer from London. I've been tutoring since the age of 16 online so have a wide range of experience as a teacher. Having achieved full marks in my English Literature A level I consider myself an expert in both GCSE and A level English. I have a degree in English With Creative Writing from the prestigious University of Nottingham and can offer effective help with a variety of subjects surrounding English. I've tutored numerous small children, helping them learn to acquire literacy and improve in school, whilst I've also taught many GCSE & A level students, helping them to achieve their target grades. Last year, all of my GCSE students went up by 2-3 grades on average, and one of my students went from a grade 4 to a grade 9 after a year of tuition, so I'm confident I can help any student improve their grade.

I have lots of experience tutoring for the 11+ and 13+ common entrance exams, and have so far an excellent success rate with all my students getting in to their target schools, including top UK private schools such as Westminster School and City of London. I also have extensive experience tutoring adult foreign language learners, ranging from beginners to those who want to refine and develop their proficiency in English. Also, as I specialised in creative writing at university, I can offer creative writing lessons to both children and adults, focused around short story writing & poetry. Creative writing can be great for children to develop a passion for English whilst improving their writing skills and imagination. I can even help adults working on a short story collection or novel with editing sessions and brainstorming.

Overall, I feel I can offer a very wide range of skills as a teacher when it comes to tutoring English in all aspects. In terms of my teaching style, I fully adapt my lessons to each individual student. We would make a plan in our first session for how to proceed and what to focus on. We can utilise any preferable system to conduct the lessons such as Zoom or Google Meet, as well as Google Docs for collaborative writing activities. With GCSE or school aged children, we would go through the different modules together, practice analysis and writing whilst refining any necessary skills according to the curriculum, whilst also going through past papers together for exam practice. With language learners, depending on the needs of the student I can offer conversation classes whereby we have discussions and I correct any speech errors, or I can provide structured grammar lessons or lessons on general writing skills.

Julia was an incredible tutor for me last year. She took me from a 5 to an 8 in just a few months. Her lessons are super fun and engaging, couldn't recommend her more!
