I am a UCL student who recently completed the IB with an overall score of 43, achieving 84% in IB Mathematics HL AA and 86% in IB Economics HL, alongside strong IGCSE results, including 89% in Mathematics. Over the past year, I have tutored peers at my boarding school, helping students prepare for GCSEs and IB assessments, and have been frequently praised for making challenging topics feel familiar and approachable. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into understandable, relatable steps, using real-life examples, visual aids, and practical applications to ensure students not only learn formulas or methods, but truly understand the reasoning behind them.
My lessons are highly structured yet flexible, designed to adapt to each student’s needs, pace, and learning style. Typically, a session begins with a review of previous material, followed by guided problem-solving, conceptual discussion, and targeted exercises to reinforce understanding. I encourage active participation, asking questions and prompting students to explain their reasoning, which builds confidence and develops independent problem-solving skills. I balance patience with challenge, ensuring students are supported but also pushed to achieve their best, fostering resilience and a growth mindset.
In addition to academic support, I emphasize organisation, exam strategy, and study techniques, helping students approach their revision efficiently and confidently. I am very social and approachable, able to engage with students comfortably, and create a welcoming, motivating environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I am diligent and thorough, always preparing lessons in advance, tailoring content to the student’s curriculum, goals, and interests, so that every session is productive, engaging, and meaningful. My ultimate aim is to help students build strong foundations, develop deep understanding, and gain confidence in applying knowledge independently, ensuring long-term academic success rather than short-term memorization.
