In my GCSE Maths tutoring sessions, I begin by asking students if there are any topics they already find difficult or don’t fully understand. Addressing these gaps early helps build a strong foundation and prevents confusion later on. After we’ve tackled those areas, I guide students through past exam papers they have completed, using the official mark scheme to analyze mistakes and explain how to improve. This method helps students understand the logic behind marking and how to approach questions strategically to maximize their score.
This approach worked for me personally—I went from a B in my Maths GCSE mock exam to an A* a whole year early. I understand how frustrating it can be to put in effort without seeing the results you want, which is why I focus on clear, patient explanations without unnecessary complication. I truly believe anyone can improve their grades with the right guidance, mindset, and consistent practice.
My sessions are friendly, supportive, and tailored to each student’s pace and needs. I encourage asking questions, making mistakes, and learning from them, as that’s where real progress happens. I also make sure to regularly revisit key skills such as mental maths, algebraic techniques, and problem-solving strategies because these often unlock confidence across different topics.
Overall, my goal is to build not only skills and exam techniques but also genuine confidence in maths. Whether you’re aiming simply to pass or striving for top marks, I’m here to help you succeed with proven methods and ongoing personal support every step of the way.
