Josh Mckenny

I offer tailored one-to-one tutoring in GCSE and A-Level Mathematics, with sessions carefully designed around each student’s needs, their learning styles and preferences, and their confidence levels with answering exam-style questions. My lessons follow a consistent structure: a brief starter to check understanding, targeted instructions and guided practice, usually in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, followed by review of exam questions and feedback. I aim to build strong foundational knowledge while simultaneously developing the skills needed to approach problems independently and with confidence.

My teaching style is clear, methodical and supportive. I break complex ideas into manageable steps and use tailored resources that reflect the current curriculum. Sessions are interactive and focused, helping students actively engage with the content rather than passively receive it.

With experience supporting a range of learners, I adapt quickly to different paces and abilities. My academic background in Mathematics and Philosophy equips me with strong analytical and communication skills, which I use to explain difficult material with precision and patience.

Outside of tutoring, I am a committed national-level distance runner, which has taught me the value of discipline, consistency and long-term development. I bring this mindset into my teaching, encouraging students to take pride in progress and persevere through challenges.

Whether preparing for exams, revisiting core topics or pushing beyond the syllabus, I work to build confidence, resilience and academic independence in every student. My sessions offer more than content delivery, they provide a space to think critically, ask questions and improve steadily over time.
