John Strudwick

I have been programming since 1980 and have spent my career working with software, technology and complex technical problems. My main programming experience is with C#, .NET and Microsoft Visual Studio, together with extensive hands-on experience with Arduino projects. I also use AI extensively as a programming and problem-solving tool and can help others learn how to get useful, reliable results from AI when developing software.

My teaching approach is practical, patient and tailored to the individual. I don't believe in simply giving someone the answer or asking them to learn things by rote. Instead, I like to understand what they are trying to achieve and then work through the problem with them, explaining the reasoning along the way.

I can help beginners who are learning programming, but I particularly enjoy helping people who already have some experience and have reached a point where they are stuck. This might be debugging a C# or .NET application, understanding existing code, solving a programming problem, developing an Arduino project, or working out how AI can be used effectively to assist with software development.

I have considerable experience explaining technical subjects to people with different levels of knowledge, and I aim to make complex subjects understandable without unnecessarily simplifying them. I encourage people to ask questions, experiment and develop the confidence to solve problems for themselves.

I am also interested in working with companies on practical technical training or mentoring, particularly around software development, programming and effective use of AI.

Sessions can be completely focused on a particular problem or project, so there is no need to commit to a long course. One-off sessions and short engagements are very welcome.

My aim is simple: to help you understand the technology, solve the problem and become more confident doing it yourself.
