I understand the problems learners have with maths. I am good at explaining things clearly, adapting my approach for the learner’s level. I can also adapt to learner’s preferred learning styles, for example, knowing that some learners benefit from a hands on, kinaesthetic approach.
I enjoy maths and this helps me bring real life examples into class. I am keen to tap into learners’ areas of interest, which makes it interesting and helps them see the relevance.
I am sensitive to learner’s particular needs whilst still keeping a structure to the class and keeping learners on task. I am particularly keen to avoid mobile phones becoming a distraction during lesson time and will make that clear from the outset.
