My lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to the individual student. I teach Art, Design and Media across GCSE, A Level, BTEC and UAL courses, and I adapt each session to suit the learner’s experience, confidence and goals.

Lessons can focus on practical skills, project development, portfolio building, coursework improvement, artist and designer research, visual analysis, idea generation, annotation, written evaluation, exam preparation or developing a stronger creative process. I can also support students who feel stuck, lack confidence or need help understanding what their course or assessment criteria are asking them to do.

My approach is clear, encouraging and practical. I use demonstrations, examples, discussion, questioning and constructive feedback to help students understand both what they need to improve and how to improve it. I aim to make lessons purposeful without making them intimidating, and I place particular emphasis on building confidence, independence and creative thinking.

I have more than 20 years’ experience teaching Art, Design and Media, including extensive experience at sixth-form level. I have taught and supported students working towards GCSE, A Level, BTEC and UAL qualifications, and I also have experience of assessment and moderation.
