Having tutored since 2022, I have a strong track record of helping students build their confidence and achieve top marks. In our first session, I like to chat through what makes sense to them, and what doesn't, to gauge their current understanding and confidence level, sometimes reviewing past work to spot where things might be slipping.
Every lesson is kept relaxed and conversational. Early on, I like to find out what revision and memory techniques work best for the student. Whether they prefer active recall, flashcards, or drilling practice questions over and over, I adapt my teaching style to match how their brain works. Drawing from my own studies, I also place a big emphasis on connecting different physics concepts together here, helping the subject make sense as a cohesive framework rather than just a collection of random memorised facts, while also building in practical exam guidance, time-tested tips, and strategies for staying calm and picking up every possible mark when it counts.
Each session generally focuses on a single core topic. However, if a particular concept is proving tricky, I am more than happy to stick with it over multiple lessons until it has truly sunk in and made sense. To make our online time as effective as possible, I make heavy use of an interactive digital whiteboard. This allows me to map out visual explanations clearly while also giving the student a hands-on opportunity to write, draw, and demonstrate what they know in real time.
Towards the end of each session, I like to go through a few quick questions so the student can instantly consolidate what they've learned and prove it to themselves. I don't normally set mandatory homework, believing that our lesson time should do the heavy lifting, but if a student or parent wants extra practice, or if an upcoming exam requires it, I am always happy to set and review assignments.
