I have taught GCSE Maths students for almost 2 years now, and as a young student myself I can highly resonate with what students may be struggling with and provide much more in-depth and clear cut methods to finding solutions as I have much more well-rounded knowledge about the GCSE Maths curriculum. I have realised many students do not understand how to do questions because they don't know why they are doing it, well I can provide the reasons why to help reinforce those gaps in their knowledge.
For GCSE students, teaching methods often rely on current past papers and teaching through reverse learning. This would include going through tests or past papers and explaining problems that the student may not understand. After pinpointing the topics that are the weakest, I'll thoroughly go through the topic concept and follow up with complimentary exam questions to help strengthen their ability within the topic. Lastly, to finally solidify the students understand I pick harder questions that may incorporate more than one topic to review the student's ability to problem solve when met with a far more complex problem.
I am also well versed with teaching students much younger who may be in KS3, by being able to refine explanations of maths concepts that may not be taught efficiently through a maths class, through one-to-one contact and analogies to help strengthen the students approach to maths questions but also refine their memory.
This can include one-to-one explanations of walk through of step by step exam questions, past papers, timed-practise tests, predicting and scheduling methods of how to get students to reach their target grades and providing a comfortable and safe learning environment where the student leaves each lesson with new knowledge to strengthen their academic ability.
