My educational background has equipped me with a strong foundation in both psychology and education, allowing me to understand diverse learning needs and effectively communicate complex concepts. My volunteering experiences of tutoring students from middle school in English and math, and creating a safe space for children with complex trauma, has provided me with a conversational and detail-oriented teaching style.
In the classes, I am able to provide educational resources highly related to the course-content and matched with students' specific needs. For these resources, I am capable of providing explanations on essential knowledge in a clear way easy to understand, with necessary visual aids. I would monitor students' progress by assigning tasks and providing feedback in-time. I would also listen to students' own opinions toward the class for further adjustment in the teaching style and the contents, in order to tailor a more suitable lessons plan to help meet the students' needs. Furthermore, I would use multi-modal supplementary materials such as videos, pictures, and pod-cast to stimulate their interest in the subject area. And students would be provided with recommondations such as further readings that fit their own interests and related to the subject area, which may benefit their long-term development.
Diversity would be respected in the classroom, and an inclusive and comfortable learning environment for all students will be provided. Aside from academic aspects, I will try to provide emotional support and establish an open and adaptable space for students to be active in their learning and rapport building.
