Jiani

Hi I'm Jiani! I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker who is passionate about language exchange. I am based in the UK and have been living here for over 11 years. English has always been my working language so I feel very comfortable and confident teaching in English.

In my spare time I enjoy hiking, visiting wetlands, travelling, reading, and catching up with friends and having coffee or matcha over a good conversation. I love good food too!

While studying for my Master's degree, I worked at my university as a Language Peer Assisted Learning Leader, where I taught Chinese and supported students in developing their understanding and confidence in the language. I have been teaching and coaching on HelloTalk in the past few years, and this time round I have decided to do it properly and be a Mandarin Chinese tutor!

I am a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) in England and worked for a Big 4 accounting firm for over 5 years. I also worked at 2 top universities in England for 2.5 years. I have a degree in Linguistics and Sociology and a Masters in Translation with Business Interpreting. Trained as a translator, I am confident about my knowledge of both the Chinese and the English languages. I am a patient and fun tutor who makes lessons practical and tailored to your needs!

I am an empathetic and compassionate person, and I will ensure that my students receive encouragement, recognition and timely feedback during their study with me. I look forward to becoming a part of your language learning journey!
