1. My lesson plan usually starts off with basic ELA worksheets just to get a sense of the child's individual grade level competence in basic English Language Arts. Such worksheets include: short story passages with questions on what certain basic words mean and how they are identified in each short story reading passage.
2. From identifying basic English Language Arts words, I move along to basic figurative speech and how to identify them in poems and short stories such as similes and metaphors.
3. When discussing character traits and story structure, I usually like to identify the lesson with Disney characters or other characters that students can relate to, to make the understanding of the lesson; clearer and more relatable to the student's understanding of the lesson.
4. When assigned stories are put in place, I like to discuss the topic of cause and effect. - ex: "What caused the character to walk off stage." - "How did the character walking off stage effect everyone else in the audience?" "How would you react if you where put in the same situation?" etc.
5. I always like to choose stories that either relatable to students around the age bracket. If comparing and contrasting a fictional story, I usually enjoy picking out stories straight from a film that a student has watched. - ex: "Frozen", "The Little Mermaid."
6. Towards the end of the lesson plan, I like to introduce the children sequence and story structure, while allowing them the freedom to create and share their own short stories.
7. All or most projects and lessons are made through powerpoint presentations and virtual worksheets via physical scanned copies and powerpoint presentations.
