Jess Willans

My primary way of teaching is academic dialectic, in which there will be presented source material or research followed by a discussion with all students regarding how best to understand, interpret and apply the material taught. I will use some visuals in the teaching or explaining of information. I also have many examples of professional experience in which to provide greater insight and encourage thoughtful discussion. I use open and closed ended questions purposely to gauge understanding, and application respectively. I can be flexible in teaching and discussion methods based on the needs and level of the students.

My primary experience is in teaching secondary and university level students. I do have some experience presenting to professional peers. I also have extensive experience consulting with professionals in other fields to help them understand how they can use and implement the information to aid in their responsibilities.

My professional experience includes extensive experience counseling individuals with a wide variety of mental health issues. I possess a thorough understanding of the psychological science, as well as a basic understanding of the neurological and biological science that under the issues I work with. I have presented this information in academic and professional settings. I also possess leadership experience within my field - training, observing, supervising and demonstrating these skills and information to entry and mid level professionals.

I have a passion for learning and teaching. I am very thoughtful and careful in my learning to be sure I understand every aspect of the information. I try to be just as thorough in my teaching to others to ensure high level knowledge and understanding, with the wisdom and ability to supply the information for noticeable improvement in some area of their life.
