Jeremy Serlin

I am an experienced, semi-retired teacher and senior GCSE English examiner, with a strong record of successfully tutoring pupils from upper primary through to GCSE. I teach students across the full ability range, including those with additional educational needs.

My lessons are friendly, patient and encouraging. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths, areas for development and individual goals, then adapt the pace and content accordingly. I use clear explanations, worked examples, guided practice and focused feedback to build both skills and confidence.

For GCSE students, my extensive examining experience gives me a detailed understanding of assessment criteria, examination technique and exactly what students need to do to improve their marks. My aim is not simply to prepare students for individual questions, but to help them become more confident, independent readers and writers.
