Some of the most important characteristics of teaching ESL are never covered in regular textbooks such as real-world goals, reflecting the structure that native English speakers use, cultural aspects of language, or body language.
No matter which language ability on which we'll focus, listening, speaking, reading, or writing, I believe that language should be learned holistically. Holistic means that all the parts are interconnected. It's difficult to only learn writing while ignoring reading. Listening and speaking are so important to each other because if you don't know how to pronounce a word, how can you understand it when I say it?
As someone who learned a second language when I was in elementary and secondary schools, I know first-hand how intimidating it can be to have to speak that language. I'll make sure you are comfortable to practice enough and build your confidence level.
