Lesson plans I will carry out will be tailored for the learners' specific needs. For younger children, I will use toys and games with simple topics that they can relate to. Some examples of these topics are animals, food, friends and family, school, and food. I will use colourful picture cards to activate visual memory in addition to auditory memory. For adults I will introduce more complex topics depending on their level and use every day, real world interactions and situations as examples so that conversation can be learned. I will also utilise some quizzes or games towards the end of these classes because I think this is helpful for consolidating knowledge. Different parts of the lesson will focus on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and sentence formation. Discussion topics will vary depending on the level of the student(s) but current world news, technology, books and music genres will likely be included. I will use English language learning books to guide me on exercises to correct common mistakes or teach particularly difficult grammar. I have an awareness of different learning styles and I would like to be inclusive in all of these in my classes, so I think that a variety of tasks are needed to keep the lesson interesting and to meet learning objectives. When working on pronunciation we will use lots of examples of each pronunciation type to give a thorough understanding of word formation in English. Would also like to ask the student(s) what their preferred learning style is and what their overall goals and objectives. With these goals in mind, we can track progress and notice positive improvements. Overall, in language learning I think that positivity, patience and encouragement to speak are most important. Making sure that the students enjoy the learning process is also a key component of successful teaching.
