I have general experience in teaching Secondary School classes during my time at Sixth Form, as well as mentoring young individuals in school so they could reach their full potential in both learning and navigating life as they grow older.
My lesson formats include interactive websites to help visualise learning, problem-solving practice, and general maths questions based on topics. I also use discussions when students are stuck and presentations to help consolidate learning.
Depending on what the student is struggling with, or if they want a head start before their school lessons, my time with them is focused on whatever they need so they can engage with their teachers more effectively.
Minor homework will be set, consisting of a few questions that get progressively harder. This allows students to showcase what they’ve learned and highlight areas where improvement is needed.
My experience shows that everyone learns in different ways, and tailoring this to each child has a lasting positive impact. Passion in teaching is remembered far more than dull lessons read off a whiteboard, and this makes learning accessible for all ages.
Students are encouraged to revise and learn on their own, with access to the websites used in lessons, support pages for homework, and the confidence to approach learning independently. Because of this learning is made easy with clear communcation with the student, understanding what needs to be improved on for the better.
Therefore, my teaching style is interactive, adaptive, fun, and effective, ensuring that each student walks away with at least one new piece of knowledge they didn’t know before.
