A teacher-student relationship is an asymmetric relationship, where one person’s knowledge outweighs the others. The role of the teacher is to balance out this asymmetry so that the student is capable of communicating with teacher as an equal.

This means my role as a teacher is to give as much of my knowledge as I possibly can, while your role as a student is to unapologetically ask for as much knowledge as you possibly could want without shame. Do not be afraid to be critical, do not be afraid to ask for more. Do not be afraid to ask for us to go back and cover something previously covered.

I find that with A-Levels, a careful balance needs to be struck between memorising information for the sake of exams and acquiring the skills necessary for critical thinking.

I’m here to help you memorise required information and teach you the format that leads to an A* grade but more importantly I am aiming to cultivate inside you a passion for the subject, setting you on a trajectory where information decodes itself, without relying on the ‘tutor’ crutch.

Format:

1 x Free 30min Introductory Session: Give me a breakdown of where you are at, and what still needs to be done. We will co-create and personalise for your needs and our mutual availability.

Option to join group chat with other students in the same program to learn from one another and support one another.

When I’m not in the Edinburgh University Library or canvassing for the Green Party you can find me climbing mountains or snowboarding :)
