I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, starting when I was eight years old, and have experience across nylon-string, steel-string, and electric guitar. Throughout that time, I've played in a variety of bands, performed regularly in live settings, and developed a broad musical background covering jazz, folk, and indie rock.
As a tutor, I aim to make lessons engaging, practical, and tailored to each student's interests and goals. Whether you're just starting out, looking to improve your technique, learn music theory, prepare for performances, or write your own music, I can adapt lessons to suit your needs and experience level.
I have a strong understanding of music theory and enjoy helping students understand how music works in a way that feels relevant and useful, rather than overly academic. My goal is to help students become more confident and independent musicians, giving them the tools to continue developing outside of lessons.
Alongside my experience as a guitarist and performer, I studied audio production and continue to work professionally in the field. This gives me the ability to offer additional insight into recording, songwriting, arranging, and the production side of music. Students who are interested in creating and recording their own music can benefit from a more complete understanding of the process, from playing an instrument to producing a finished track.
Having spent many years performing, recording, and collaborating with other musicians, I bring both practical experience and technical knowledge to my teaching. I enjoy helping people develop their skills, find their own musical direction, and gain confidence in their playing, whatever their goals may be.
