As a former lifeguard who would assist in teaching children about swimming, I have adopted a similarly patient and empathetic approach in terms of my teaching style. This approach has been especially developed through my previous experience of tutoring my younger sister in GCSE English Literature, Maths, Chemistry and Biology. This ongoing tutoring experience has allows me to remain fully up-to-date with GCSE subject knowledge.
During one of my typical lessons, I would first teach a student the basics of a pre-determined topic in simple, relatable terms. After ensuring that they were comfortable with this, I would begin to apply the topic to exam questions, walking them through each step to guarantee that they understood how to adapt concepts to align with exam questions. I then encourage my students to answer exam questions by themselves, helping to foster a sense of independence that helps in inspiring confidence.
By adapting my teaching methods to match a student's learning pace, I am able to build a strong rapport with students. This, in turn, allows me to cultivate a welcoming atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions.
I received grades at all 8s and 9s in Maths, English Literature, English Language and triple science at GCSE level. I have completed my A-levels in Psychology, Maths and Biology, earning an A*, A and B respectively. I am a current first-year psychology student at the University of Bath.
If my adaptable and empathetic approach is well-suited to a particular student's needs, I welcome you to get in touch!
