My lessons will be structured but interactive, designed to keep students engaged while building real understanding and confidence. I usually start by identifying what the student already knows, then introduce new content in small, manageable steps.
I break topics down clearly and use simple explanations, examples, and visual prompts where helpful. After that, we move into guided practice together before gradually encouraging independent work so the student feels supported but not overwhelmed.
Lessons will have a positive, encouraging atmosphere where questions are always welcome. I adapt my teaching style depending on the child—some may need more repetition and reassurance, while others benefit from challenge and discussion.
The focus will always be on making learning feel achievable, boosting confidence, and helping students improve at their own pace in a calm and supportive environment.
For primary and infant English, lessons will follow key areas of the curriculum such as reading comprehension, phonics, spelling, punctuation, and basic grammar. I will also support early writing skills, helping students structure sentences, expand vocabulary, and express ideas clearly.
For younger learners, I focus heavily on phonics, blending sounds, and building reading confidence through engaging texts and activities. As students progress, lessons will include comprehension questions, creative writing, and practising key grammar rules in a way that feels practical and easy to understand.
Where possible, I will link learning to fun, age-appropriate topics to keep students engaged, while ensuring they are developing the core skills needed for school success. I hope to build a higher understanding of English to prepare students ahead of their next year of education being from anywhere between reception to year 6.
