Jana Barry

My name is Jana. I am a newly qualified High School teacher with an Undergraduate Degree in Human Life Sciences, an Honours degree in Psychology, and a PGCE.

I have taught High School learners before and decided to take my tutoring online. I finished High School in 2017 with 7 A's and an average of 84%; I am therefore confident in teaching the subjects Life Sciences and Physical Sciences (Chemistry & Physics).

I am extremely passionate about science and this passion is reflected in my teaching.
I rely on a student-centered approach and believe that learning can only take place when a learner is actively involved. I therefore ask content-based questions throughout the lesson to test learner understanding and dispel any misunderstandings early on.

I incorporate visual elements into my classroom to make learning more memorable such as the use of a white board, visual examples, or videos of experiments. I try to make content memorable and easy to understand by incorporating rhymes, mind maps, and comparisons.

My Psychology degree also taught me the power of motivation which I use to instil a confidence in learners that enables them to reach their full potential.
