I am a Brazilian native fluent in Portuguese and English, with advanced proficiency in Spanish. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism and, during university, I gained two years of experience as a teaching assistant. During this time, I also won a university-wide competition for one of my teaching projects.
In addition, I have around five years of experience in customer-facing roles, mostly in the tourism and hospitality industry. While my background in tourism may not seem directly related to teaching languages, it has given me invaluable insight: mastering a language is not just about grammar and structure, it’s about connection. Over the years, speaking with people from all over the world has taught me that true fluency comes from the ability to make yourself understood and to understand others above anything else.
With this in mind, my goal is to help students gain both knowledge and confidence, so they can express themselves in any situation. Here’s how I approach learning Portuguese:
Assessment and goals – I’ll evaluate your current level, understand your goals, and identify areas where you might struggle.
Understanding syntax – You’ll learn the logic behind Portuguese sentence structure and how it differs from your native language, along with basic vocabulary, so you can start expressing yourself without memorizing premade sentences.
Morphology and vocabulary expansion – We’ll explore Portuguese word structure, which will help you “guess” meanings and translations more accurately while expanding your vocabulary.
Verbs and conversation basics – You’ll learn verb conjugation and start having basic conversations about yourself, your surroundings, and current events. We’ll also focus on phonetics to make sure your pronunciation is clear.
Advanced verb tenses – We’ll move on to past and future tenses, allowing you to have more complex conversations and express yourself in a wider range of situations.
With consistent practice and ongoing vocabulary growth, your fluency will depend on your enthusiasm and effort. I’ll provide all the tools you need to make learning Portuguese a simple, fun, and rewarding process!
