Lessons will be tailor made for the needs of each student, instead of focusing on age, I feel lessons work better when the focus is on a students understanding. A lesson can range from the basic building blocks of English, (displaying pictures with names, tree, car, man, woman, boy, girl) to more advanced real world conversations to help a learner get around in an English speaking environment. "What time is it?" "Would you like to go to a movie?" ultimately my focus is on making sure a student will be able to understand and speak, functional English, and the road we take to get to that destination, will be the road that best fits the learner. I look at myself as a guide to the learner, who is here to help them on their journey. I have a deep love of language and have been studying Japanese and Russian myself, so I personally understand the questions and stumbling blocks a student can fall into along the way. I also know how good it feels to overcome a hurdle and to advance in your studies of a foreign language. In my lessons I will be incorporating ideas and concepts that I know are helpful to a learner, because these will be the things that helped me along the way. Also having moved from the USA to England I have had to learn various cultural differences, these are things that you won't learn in a text book, it comes more through a lived experience, however these are also things that I will be able to share with a student. I love a good challenge and I'm looking forward to helping others grow in their English learning experience.
