You'd be surprised to hear that regretfully, I was a very poor student throughout my time in academia.
I was disorganized, last minute, low attendance at GCSE / A-level and even University.
While I wish I would have applied myself much better, I was nevertheless able to achieve the grades I needed in order to advance to the next academic stage.
I did this by working smarter than everyone else.
I understand exams very well, and my approach to them is unique.
While most students spend hours and hours on what i call 'Know and show' (Basic information recall of names, places, statistics etc.), I was studying mark schemes, past papers, emailing retired examiners, devising efficient revision strategies etc.
I see my role as a tutor to be two fold;
1) Help you UNDERSTAND areas of your content that you struggle with
2) Improve exam preparation, technique & confidence.
Some tutors will go through course content with you, help your revise and remember.
However students are largely capable of committing effective time to this alone.
I see it as my job to help you devise a plan of action for tackling your exams, and improving your ability to deliver on what really matters - the exam.
Being fresh out of the education system myself, and having gone the conventional academic route, I feel I am in a position to genuinely understand, relate to, and help students vastly improve their GCSE / A-LEVEL exams!
