I often find that a student learns better while engaged so I often begin topics by telling a story. I briefly explain the origins and importance of a theory and its place in history, with a few comedic jibes. However, the true measure of understanding any theory and formula is being able to apply it. The first part of solving any problem is visualisation - do you visualise all the intricacies of the problem? What information are we given? What are we tasked to find? Once we can answer these questions, solving the problem is simply selecting the necessary tool in our mental toolbox and getting to work. During our lessons, I will guide you through the problems, if necessary, and then I will assign a few problems to mentally train you to tackle not only the topic of that day’s lesson but also the future lessons - essentially to think like a physicist for problems you have never encountered, leaving you gradually needing me less and less throughout our journey together.
