I have gained valuable experience working with children through babysitting, volunteering at holiday camps, and supporting my younger sister with her schoolwork. I decided to become a maths tutor because, when I was in primary school, I struggled with maths myself and often found it difficult to grasp new concepts. This changed when my parents arranged for me to be tutored by a young university student. Since she was closer to my age, I found it easier to relate to her than to older teachers, and I felt more comfortable asking questions when I didn’t understand something. With her support, both my confidence and my grades improved significantly, and over time maths became my favourite subject.
In the same way that my tutor inspired and supported me, I want to help children who may be finding maths challenging. My aim is not only to help them improve their understanding and performance at school, but also to build their confidence and foster a genuine interest in the subject.
I will begin by carrying out a baseline assessment that covers the key topics in your child’s year group curriculum. This will help me identify both their strengths and the areas where they may need extra support. Based on these results, I will create a tailored plan and prioritise the topics we should focus on.
Each topic will be covered in detail across a series of lessons to ensure your child fully understands the material before moving on. I aim to deliver lessons in a fun and engaging way so that your child not only makes progress academically, but also develops confidence and a genuine interest in learning maths.
