Throughout school, I understood the fear of questioning a topic you don’t understand in a classroom full of kids. That is why as a tutor I vow to build trust and familiarity with my students, allowing them to relentlessly question me and the topics I teach, allowing them to thrive both in and out of the classroom. It is key for me as a tutor to initially grasp the student’s ability and understanding so I can personalize and alter my teaching to best suit the student. Ounce ability and level is established, my lessons will be at an appropriate pace, providing the student with time and allowing for a better understanding of the subject. I also prioritize patience when teaching, thoroughly checking understanding until the student feels confident in the area. Furthermore, I also do some small weekly checks and tests with the material from previous sessions, not only helping students attain the knowledge into their long term memory, but ounce again confirming and improving the students understanding. Ounce my students are confident in the subject, they will also become more confident in themselves, seeing improvements in lessons, in exams, and in their persons, making my job as a tutor worth every second.
