My lessons are one-to-one, relaxed and structured, and they're held online (or in person where possible). Before we begin, I like to get to know you or your child: their current level, their strengths, what they find difficult, and what they want to achieve, whether that's better grades, exam success or more confidence. From there, I plan every lesson around their pace and learning style rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
A typical session starts with a quick, friendly check-in and a review of what we covered last time. We then move into the main focus, which could be grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, essay and composition writing, or exam technique for the Cambridge, Pearson or British English curricula. I explain each topic clearly, we practise together, and I give constructive feedback so students always know what they're doing well and what to improve. Each lesson ends with a short recap and clear next steps.
I've tutored students of varying ages and abilities, and every student I've taught has gone on to do well in their assessments. My experience includes private tutoring, a teaching internship, volunteer teaching and mentoring children in a literacy programme. I'm also completing my Bachelor of Arts in Education at Kenyatta University.
I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable and understood. With my Peer Counsellor Certificate and counselling psychology training, I'm patient and encouraging, and I keep students motivated even when the work feels stressful. Parents are welcome to ask for updates on progress at any time.
