My lessons are uniquely created for each of my students as I acknowledge they are different for each one. For that reason I don’t have a set “structure” for my lessons.

My basic lesson structure involves:
1. Retrieval (5 mins) - testing my students random content from their exam boards specification which has been brought up in examiners reports as “done badly” for the previous year. I do this as it’s most likely to be tested in the following year in a slightly different format.

2. Learning content (15-30 mins) - we cover a topic of difficulty: starting from the basics and then going into depth. It’s key that you understand the content as you will need to apply it in content in your exam (AO3). If you still don’t understand the topic, I will send you some content to look over in your free time or try to show you a link from other topics.

3. Application of knowledge (25-35mins) - we answer exam-type questions of increasing difficulty. Making sure the student understands how to solve every single one and will be able to answer it in the exam.

4. Summary (5 mins) - we review the content in the lesson. In this time you can also raise any concerns you may have. I also take this moment to finalise any concepts which the students might’ve struggled with.

I also embed revision techniques into my lessons. These techniques helped me achieve 5 A*’s and 2 A’s at GCSE level.

Wow! My son who did GSCE’s last year had tutoring from this wonderful student, which he supported him in chemistry. He was working at a grade 4 but went on to achieve a grade 7. I also loved how affordable his lessons were.
