Group sessions will consist of going through theory going through an example, making them do it solo, and then responding with feedback.
Solo sessions will consist of a taster session (first lesson) to get a feel for the tutoring style the student best works with. This is key as I have worked with SEN students (such as, dyslexia) andhave noticed there learning style is different.
I will understand in this session if they are more visual or verbal learners, similarly with working out there concentration and focus level.
If we have to work to a deadline, this can be done and just has to be communicated. In the case of an exam, I will work on theory and understanding and answering of questions, and nearer the exam will include more examples and going through them thoroughly with the student.
Ilike to work with previous papers and questions that are private and are not out on the internet for anyone to access, as it brings another level of difficulty to the questions and allows the students to really grasp and understand the question, more so than seeing papers they have done over and over again. I also use past paper questions from all exam boards to allow for understanding, nearer the exam I will use questions specifically to there exam board so they know exactly how to answer. If it is prefered to use the same exam board from the beginning this can also be done.
