I opt for a friendly, approachable teaching style, utilising the most effective methods of learning in a way which isn't intimidating. Once the content is covered for a topic, this mostly involves active learning such as practice questions and flashcards. Though students can often favour methods such as reading through notes, active recall is often the best way to learn, and it can be fun! I have experience working as a student support assistant in a college, especially supporting students with special educational needs, and have no problem adapting sessions to suit whatever style of learning works best for each individual. Sometimes this is trial and error, but everyone has a style which works best for them, it's just finding it. Psychology is a subject I love, but having studied it from A-level, I know that some aspects can be tricky at first. Content involving research methods and Biology in Psychology can be off-putting for some students; these are both topics which I have grown to enjoy at degree level, and can teach in a way which makes sense for you. I am currently undertaking a placement as a research assistant, so can offer a more practical perspective of research methods, which can be beneficial for some students. I would love to hear from students studying Psychology at A-Level, whether you're in your first or second year; we can work out a specific study plan tailored to you to help you with your exams, and hopefully even enjoying Psychology as a subject!
