Previously my lessons consisted of looking at articles from around the English speaking world, and we would engage in a discussion about the article and its language. Highlighting new words, phrases and idiomatic expressions. Lessons can very much be tailored whether it’s grammar, we can go through grammar rules. Whether there are certain aspects of the English language needed I am happy to apply a catered lesson and different style to adapt my teaching. I taught at one of the top schools in France with a range of students with different English language capabilities and so each lesson of mine had to be adapted to this. I am currently in my final year of my degree at the University of Durham, studying French and Arabic. While French I am at a bilingual level, I began Arabic three years ago. Learning a complex language from a beginners level has aided my comprehension of ways in which you can learn languages. I also have a more in depth experience of the difficulties in learning a language and so from personal knowledge I can understand and empathise with students. Depending what level, for example GCSE we can look through certain readings and I can aid in doing practice exams that fit the exam board. From experience as a teacher in a French school, I assisted and carried out assessments on my pupils with given feedback as well as improvements that could be made. I would aid in the development of improvements offering corrections and aiding in the learning and understanding of this.
