Iryna Yemets

Hi! I’m Irina Yemets, a native Russian speaker from Eastern Ukraine and a qualified teacher with a university degree in Russian Language and Literature. I’ve spent over 20 years working with language — as a teacher, journalist, editor, and interpreter — and I absolutely love helping students discover how rich, expressive, and fascinating Russian can be. I grew up speaking Russian in Ukraine, so I know the subtleties of how it’s used there, and I bring that cultural and linguistic insight into my lessons. At the same time, I am strongly against Russia’s aggression and consider it a country committing acts of terrorism.

My lessons are friendly, interactive, and fully tailored to you. We focus on real communication, everyday vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar, using stories, videos, songs, and fun activities. You’ll start speaking from the very first class, and making mistakes is part of the learning journey — don’t worry, we’ll fix them together!

I also hold a Level 5 TEFL Diploma (UK), and I’ve worked in British schools supporting children with additional learning needs. This experience taught me patience, empathy, and how to make lessons adaptable so every student feels included and confident.
