Depending on the subject, I usually use a mix between presentations, whiteboard teaching and questions. By this I mean, I usually go through the concept on a presentation first to immerse the child with and to make it fascinating for them so they themselves wish to continue, then confirm it on a whiteboard to ensure they can fully interact and complete questions to a reasonable standard.
I am not a micro-manager, so I love to interact with the child struggling and reassure that they can do it without me- I am just a tool of encouragement that is looking to help. Depending on the grade the parents believe is the child’s potential, I will take full responsibility in ensuring that they achieve that wether it be a C or an A through extensive teaching, help and encouragement.
I have great experience with tutoring my own nephews and nieces but also by widening my horizon by sometimes tutoring struggling students on my road and local community. I find it an amazing opportunity to help someone in need and why not do it with a subject you love. I would love the opportunity to help another struggling student and for them to realise their own potential by not only passing but by excelling. Coming from a student who herself, struggled in English in the beginning, I understand the need for a great teacher to be able to immerse you in the subject but to also reassure you that you can do it to a great standard. Therefore, I can teach both English Literature and Language for GCSE students.
