I usually prefer to cater my lessons to the needs and learning style of the student. Students who learn through discussion and active recall will be given a looser lesson plan where we discuss topics they want to cover through quizzes. On the other hand, students who need a more structured and school-like lesson will get given stricter lesson plans with a PowerPoint presentation to follow and revision notes and homework provided after the lessons. Finally, I make a distinction between content lessons and revision lessons. Whilst content lessons will involve teaching concepts and will only test students on information covered in previous lessons together, revision lessons will often involve periods of silent work in exam conditions as the student completes a question or a part of one, before I mark it in the lesson, provide feedback and then compare to a model answer that I have prepared beforehand. My lessons, since they are online, are done on all platforms, whether that be Google Meet, Teams, or Zoom, to allow all students of different backgrounds access to learning and lessons. Homework is often provided, with the start of lessons often involving a review of homework completed or me marking it, if it is an essay or question. In essence, I offer a diverse and engaging lesson structure, reflecting the diversity of my students' needs and abilities. I will also often have catchup sessions with parents to discuss the progress of their children, establishing schedules for future lessons as well as answering any questions parents might have.
