I have two years experience of tutoring, as well as many years with my younger sister (years we both look back on fondly). I have tutored a range of ages from 8 to 15. My subject areas are Politics and Philosophy, and English Literature. I like to have minimum one hour sessions, where at least 15 minutes (preferably more) are dedicated to discussion around the topic of the curriculum. I have found that this stimulates additional understanding further than just regurgitation of pre-prepared answers in the exam. Studies have shown the beneficial impact this has on children and young adults outside of the classroom. It also means that I foster a cordial relationship with my students, which helps maintain a healthy student-teacher partnership. I stick to the curriculum however in the other time, and also thematically within discussion time. Whether your child is struggling with poetry or literature, I have benefited from many English teachers who have brought the pages alive for me, and hope to do the same! I am a graduate of Politics and Philosophy, receiving first class honours from the University of Manchester. I am currently studying Creative Arts Production MSc at Glasgow University and want to expand my tutoring clientele. Whilst I loved studying Politics and Philosophy I picked up modules in Comparative Literature, so always was in proximity to the English department (who made up many of my peers). Tutoring English has always been a passion of mine, and I have travelled abroad to teach in Vietnam and Spain.
