Depending on the child's age, I prefer using visual materials, making more speaking lessons rather that just dictating the grammar. In learning another language the most important thing is the word knowledge. I use internet sites like bamboozle, wordwall, quizlet for grammar rules there for it can be learnt while playing games. I studied literature so I am good at both reading and writing but also I have been teaching grammar as a main course teacher for 3 years.
Every person is different, one method is not suitable for all. I use eclectic method when I'm teaching.
Younger learners need emotional connection to learn better. I believe I have a special gift on communicating with kids. In this way, they do not feel ashamed or shy to talk in a foreign language.
