My name is Ilaria Manenti and I am a college student who intends to pursue a career as a secondary school teacher. I have previous experience tutoring Junior Cycle students in a variety of subjects (mathematics, English, Italian and Spanish). During my first tutoring job, I helped a student who was failing a number of subjects achieve a 70% in her state examinations by breaking down notions into manageable pieces of information and making learning as active as possible. My teaching methodology aims to develop a deep understanding and passion for the subject, while at the same time including notion learning in my lesson plan. I always worked towards building a trusting relationship between me and the students, making sure they felt comfortable expressing any concerns to me, and enhancing their self-confidence by allowing to express their opinion freely, yet in a respectful manner.I have completed my Leaving Certificate in Our Lady's Bower Secondary School, Athlone, sitting seven exams at higher level and achieving a final grade of 591/625. I am currently a first year student in Maynooth University and I am completing a Bachelor of Arts in French and English. I believe the best way to help each student is by beginning tutoring sessions with a recap of the previous lesson, to get an idea of the pupil's level of understanding. My teaching plan depends heavily on the feedback I receive from students, as I am aware that every one of them learns in a different manner and at a different pace, so I aim to adapt my methodology based on their response.
