Hello there, I’m an experienced tutor who specialises in Mathematics.

I follow a teaching methodology that involves practice questions as I believe this is the best way to not only build self confidence, but also identify weaknesses in particular topics.

I structure my lessons by first asking the student if they have anything in particular that they struggle in or lack confidence. If they don’t know where they’re weak points are, I hand them a diagnostic paper for them to complete and ,upon marking, I am then able to decide what we will focus on.

Once a list of topics Is made, I will ask the student to highlight their weakest ones so that we can spend the most time focusing on them.

After this we will begin systematically going through the topics, starting with the weakest topics, and I will usually explain the topic on the board, along with going through example questions so the student is able to visualise a method to answer the questions. I will continue to support the student with example questions and as they build confidence, I will slowly reduce my help until they are working independently.

Once I am sure the student is able to answer a question on their own, I will give them a worksheet to complete to build on this and help them retain the method.

From here, we will then repeat with the remaining topics until we are finished with the list.

We will focus on one topic per hour.
