My lessons are interactive, structured, and always tailored to the individual needs of the student. I draw on my background in both healthcare and education to combine psychological theory with practical study strategies, so that students don’t just learn the material, they learn how to use it effectively.

I use educational psychology strategies throughout my teaching, for example:

Working memory supports such as breaking down complex ideas into “chunks,” using visual aids and mind maps, and rehearsal techniques to make information easier to retain.

Active recall and spaced repetition, encouraging students to test themselves regularly rather than just re-read notes.

Dual coding, pairing text with diagrams or examples, to strengthen understanding.

Metacognitive strategies, helping students to reflect on how they learn best and adapt their study habits.

The format of my lessons usually begins with a short review of previous learning (to strengthen recall), followed by focused teaching using real-life examples and case studies. I then guide the student through applying the concept in practice (exam questions, scenarios, or discussion), and end with personalised study tips or memory techniques they can use independently.

Because of my experience supporting young people’s mental health, I also create a safe, encouraging space where students feel confident to ask questions and build resilience. Parents often find that this holistic approach boosts not only academic performance but also motivation and self-belief. I actively share ways to promote academic success, resilience through psychologically backed up evidence. I am living testament to it - achieving a 1st class in my psychology undergraduate dissertations and other exams.

Whether preparing for exams, improving essay writing, or simply wanting to understand psychology better, my lessons are designed to make learning practical, memorable, and empowering.
