Although my formal teaching experience is still growing, I have actively participated in language tutoring classes, where I discovered how effective and enjoyable language learning can be when it is built on connection and interaction. Through these experiences, I learned that making friends, engaging in meaningful conversations, and participating in various activities significantly enhance both language acquisition and cultural understanding. This approach made learning more natural, enjoyable, and memorable for me.
Based on this experience, my goal as a Korean tutor is to provide a personalized and engaging learning environment rather than a rigid, theory-focused class. I aim to design lessons that reflect each student’s personality, interests, learning goals, and preferred areas of focus. By incorporating diverse Korean content such as videos, games, real-life expressions, and cultural materials, I strive to make learning Korean both accessible and motivating.
The structure and pace of each lesson can be flexibly adjusted according to the student’s needs. In addition to language skills, I place strong emphasis on helping students understand Korean social norms and culture, as language and culture are deeply connected. The primary teaching material will be based on the TOPIK textbook, one of the most widely recognized resources for learning Korean. Supplementary materials such as video clips or PDF files will be shared before each session to help students prepare in advance. If students wish, short quizzes or mini tests can also be conducted at the beginning of lessons to reinforce learning.
Each session is planned to last approximately 1.5 hours, held once or twice a week, with scheduling fully adjustable based on student preferences. If there is an opportunity to meet in person, I would be happy to introduce students to Korean food and spend time together exploring Korean culture in everyday settings, making the learning experience even more immersive and enjoyable.
