Hey! Although it is hard for me to generalize the format of one lesson, since each private lesson is different, I will still give it a try. In the first lesson, I try to gain a better understanding of the student; what is their personality, are they introvert or extravert, what are their strengths and their limitations, and most important what are their passions. In educational psychology we were taught that the group which is harder to teach as a teacher is the one with no motivation. This phrase is the nutshell of my approach. Finding out if my students better comprehend visual, auditory, or written context will be the base for our future lessons. Unfortunately, the teaching part cannot be avoided. However, I employ at the end of each lesson a diffeent strategy, depending on the individual's age, to increase their motivation and their curiosity for the current as well the next lesson.
I have worked with children who are on the spectrum, as well with children with dyslexia and ADHD. I have previous experience from elementary schools, and 1-1 tutoring.
