Hope Russell - Winter

I teach my students with a focus on aural training (learning by ear), listening to their favourite music, artists and songs with reading and theory as a secondary support. Having had a difficult time with more rigid & institutional methods of learning, which initially deterred me from learning music myself, as a teacher I endeavour to make my lessons fun, expressive and less grade-focused - and more about cultivating musicianship among young people. My students will learn mostly pop and jazz, chord structure, major and minor scales, basic playing techniques - and will use music as a way to express themselves, and gain confidence in their own abilities in all areas in doing so.
