I would begin by assessing each student’s current level of understanding to identify their strengths, gaps, and preferred way of learning. This allows me to plan lessons that are tailored to the student rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I believe this is important because every student learns at a different pace, and understanding their starting point helps build confidence and trust.
When teaching, I explain concepts in clear, simple steps and break learning down into manageable parts. I use age-appropriate language, real-life examples, and guided questions to help students understand and stay engaged. I encourage students to actively participate by asking questions, explaining their thinking, and practising what they have learned through short tasks. If a student finds something difficult, I am patient and flexible, and I will re-explain the topic in a different way or provide additional examples until they feel more confident.
Throughout the lesson, I regularly check for understanding by asking recap questions or reviewing completed work. I give positive and constructive feedback to recognise effort as well as progress, which helps motivate students and build self-belief. I aim to create a calm, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking for help. My overall goal is not only to improve academic understanding but also to help students develop confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
